Prague Blog

We just got back from an amazing trip to Prague!  Serge visited the Czech capital during his semester abroad and has always said it was one of his favorite places in Europe.  I now understand why, and I definitely share his sentiments!  It is such a neat city!  The weather was perfect, the food was awesome, the sights were beautiful; we loved it all!

der Frankfurter Hauptbahnhof - we meet again!

World traveler, coming through!

I love the subway escalators in Prague - they go super fast!
Serge said they remind him of Space Mountain. We're easily entertained :-)

First glimpse of the Charles Bridge

Checking out the local artists on the bridge

Summer Festival in the Old Town Square

Fixing myself a drink at Bar and Books

Church of our Lady before Týn looks like Cinderella's castle at night!

Walking around town

Vltava River

Lunch at Botel Matylda

Stealing a swig of Serge's Stella. It was the perfect day for a cold beer!

It's a boat. It's a hotel. It's a botel!

Wardrobe change! Usually when we're walking around a European city I'm freezing, so we have to buy me a warmer sweater, scarf, hat, gloves, or boots. This was the first time that I've had to buy a new shirt because I was too hot! I like it much better this way!

Waiting for the Astronomical Clock to strike 4, so we could see the little hourly show!

Papas! In honor of my Papa :-)

Espresso with dark chocolate at Choco Café - This was soo good!!

Awesome Spanish dinner at La Boca

Running up the hill to see the changing of the guards at the Castle!

We made it!

My view from Serge's back :-)

In need of a new guard? I think I look the part.

Serge looks tiny next to that giant Czech flag!

And inside. Wwwooowww! :-)

Cute little house on the Golden Lane

Hanging out with the guards outside the Castle

Taking a much appreciated lunch break at a café near the Charles Bridge

My favorite part of this photo is the guy posing in the background.

Back at the Astronomical Clock

Hot chocolate sundae at Café Imperial!
I'm pretty much an ice cream connoisseur, and this sundae was one of the best I've ever had!

Headed back to the clock tower

View of the castle from the tower

And view of the Church of Our Lady before Týn

Trumpeter practicing before his big performance on the hour

Walking back down the tower... or back to the future??

Posing on the bridge

Sergio's turn

With the balloon and the river

And again with the castle

One more picture with the Castle! I really didn't want to leave!

Sooo I just decided to move there and open my own KQ Minimarket
Momma, we saw an MQ Minimarket too - Wanna join me? :-)

Summer Update

Well, I guess another month has flown by without a blog update. Woops! Serge and I spent some time in Heidelberg a few weeks ago and then traveled to the US for the annual Qualman Myrtle Beach Week. It was Serge's first time back in the US in over 9 months, and it was well worth the wait! We both had such a great time visiting with our friends and family, laying in the sun, playing golf (Serge) and shopping (me), and we already miss our friends and family so much! (Not to mention American food, southern hospitality, and the sun! ;-)) We're getting back into the swing of things here in Germany and are preparing for a few more trips we have planned in the upcoming weeks and months. We can never stay in one place for too long! :-) I recently came across a few random pictures from our spring and summer over here, and I wanted to share them with you. We hope you are all enjoying the summer and that your weather has been much better than ours!

This was in Gießen on my birthday. Thanks for the well wishes, Karstadt! :-)

My birthday chef!
He cooked Chicken Cordon Bleu with almond flour, artichokes, and a salad, and it was awesome!

Then he surprised me with breakfast on our balcony, which was FINALLY finished, just in time for my birthday!

We moved the party inside for the second course.

I gave the chef a break, and we went to Wirt am Dom for my birthday dinner.

Old meets new in Frankfurt

Cooking some chicken and veggies on a hot stone at Eschenheimer Turm

At the Spanish festival in Frankfurt - I passed on the Sangria and instead enjoyed a Magnum McFlurry with a pirate. Olé! :-)

Biergarten an der Lahn

FINALLY Biergarten weather! Yay!!

Happy 4th of July!
Celebrating in our red, white, and blue with a strawberry yogurt sundae!

Serge's photography work - That's our house through a glass of Riesling :-)

Hiking through a wheat field

Nice view of Wetzlar

We made it to the top!

I was cooking dinner one day (hence my cute apron), when Serge hollered for me to come look out the window because there was a pig flying outside. It's hard to see in the picture, but sure enough pigs can fly in Wetzlar. Obviously I can never again say, "Sure I'll move to country 'x' with you, Serge... when pigs fly." ;-)

Wetzlar stays with us when we travel!

Oh yeah, this Apotheken Museum is real cool. I don't feel like I'm on a boring field trip or anything...

Hanging out with Perkeo watching over das Große Fass

Who needs Music on the Green at Freshfields when you have Donnerstags Live in the Domplatz? ;-)

Our last beer with David at the new Paulaner Biergarten am Haarplatz

Auf Wiedersehen, David! Wir vermissen dich schon! Bis Barcelona!
