Keeping Up With The Kartoffelchen: Silvester Extravaganza!

After the 4 of us spent some time in Frankfurt, we made our way back to Wetzlar to show our guests around our new home base and to ring in 2011! In Germany New Year's Eve is called Silvester. We spent our first Silvester at an awesome French restaurant in the Domplatz named Hauptwache. We had an 8-course dinner, which actually ended up being 10 courses because they kept sending out dessert platters after midnight. The owner of the restaurant is a super nice guy, the service was great, and the food was amazing! But I've never been so FULL in my life!! At midnight the church bells went crazy, and the streets were loaded with people shooting off fireworks and celebrating the new year. It was such a neat experience! Germany really knows how to enjoy New Year's Eve! The Deutsch can "make a party" now! :-)

I love this picture even though it looks kinda weird because Palais was rocking the red lights in preparation for Silvester. That boy knows how to make me laugh, that's for sure!

I also like this picture because I'm just hamming it up for the camera, while Serge is... probably checking on our stocks, looking up directions or the train schedule, making a reservation - something responsible! He takes such good care of me! :-)
